G Major (Ionian) Scale - G A B C D E F#

In music theory, everything is named in relation to the Major Scale and the Roman Numeral System. The first note of the Major Scale (in this case G) is known as I (Roman Numeral for 1). For G major it is: G=I, A=II, B=III, C=IV, D=V, E=VI and F#=VII. Naming conventions for chord progressions such as I IV V are derived relative to the major scale. This video teaches the G major scale (also known as G Ionian), and the following six videos teach the relative modes of the G major scale, so you can play it across the guitar neck.
